Take over a till

In short

If someone else's shift is still open on the till, count the drawer to take it over: their shift closes with your count, and yours opens with the float left in the drawer.

Who: anyone who sells. Needs internet.

Counting before you take over means each of you answers only for your own cash: anything short before your count is on the earlier shift, not yours.

Take over

  1. Open Point of Sale. It says "Till 2 is on Amaka’s shift." (with their name).
  2. Choose Take Over This Till.
  3. Count the drawer as in Close your shift: card and transfer totals, then the cash by note.
  4. Type Your till PIN: you answer for this count.
  5. Choose Count and Take Over.

The screen explains: "Your count closes Amaka’s shift. The ₦20,000 float stays in the drawer for your shift; the rest of the cash is handed to you."

If something goes wrong

  • "Enter your till PIN: you answer for this count."
  • "This is your own shift." It's already yours: just sell.
